How do I add a new device to the Duo Authentication System?


If you have a new phone number, please call ITS at 419-372-0999 for assistance. The process below is designed to work only if you kept the same phone number but have a different device.

  1. Start by installing Duo Mobile on your new device. You can find the app from the Play Store for Android devices or the Apple Store for iOS devices.
  2. Using a computer or alternative device, sign in to the MyBGSU portal.
  3. On the Duo screen, Select add a new device on the left side of the screen.
  4. Duo will then ask you to verify your phone number, select either Call Me or Enter a Passcode.
  5. On the next screen, select either Mobile Phone, Tablet, or Landline then select Continue.
  6. Enter your phone number when promoted.
    • If Landline was chosen skip to step 11 now.
  7. Select type of phone and select continue.
  8. Select I have Duo mobile Installed
  9. Scan the QR barcode that appears using the Duo mobile app.
  10. A green check mark will appear when successful. Select Continue.
  11. From the drop down menu, choose a method how Duo will authenticate when you log in. Once you have made a selection, select save and  then select countine to login.
  12. You should now be able to use your new device to authenticate into the system.
