How do I view and manage my tax information (W-2 & 1098-T) in MyBGSU

Answer

Expand the panels below for information on viewing/accessing and managing your tax documents in MyBGSU.

View Your W-2

If you are an employee of BGSU, you can view your W-2 form by logging in to your MyBGSU account. This can only be done while on-campus and cannot be viewed any other way.

Once logged in, Select the Employees tab at the top of the page.
From the left navigation, select View W-2/W-2c Forms,
- In order to view your W-2 online, you will first need to complete the W-2/W-2c Consent form.
Select the desired year of W-2 form to view.
- If you experience issues opening the W-2, ensure that pop-ups are allowed by your web browser.

If you are not a current employee of BGSU, you will not be able to access your W-2 form in MyBGSU. For information about having it mailed to you, you will need to contact Payroll at 419-372-2201.

Sign Up for Electronic W-2 Retrieval

Follow the instructions below to sign up to receive your BGSU W-2 electronically through MyBGSU.

Log in to your MyBGSU account
Select the Employees tab.
Under Payroll Information select W2/W2c Consent.
Follow the prompts to provide your consent to receive your W-2 electronically.

Update W-2 Mailing Address

Log in to your MyBGSU account.
Select the Employees link.
Select the Update Personal Information icon
Verify or update your Home and Mailing address.

Downloading W-2 Off-Campus

Electronic W-2s can only be accessed while connected to the BGSU network. Off-campus users can access their W-2 by connecting to the BGSU VPN. This security measure was added in order to protect employees and their sensitive data.

Please Note: VPN access is required to download W-2s while off-campus. VPN access is only available to BGSU faculty and staff. Downloading W-2s via VPN requires a University-owned device.

If you are not using a University-owned device please follow the steps below to access your W-2.

Open your browser.
Navigate to vpn.bgsu.edu.
Sign in with your BGSU username and password and authenticate via Duo Two Factor Authentication.
Locate the box next to the browse button and type my.bgsu.edu into the box.
Select Browse.
- After selecting Browse you will be directed to the MyBGSU login page.
Log in to MyBGSU with your BGSU username and password and authenticate via Duo Two Factor Authentication.
You should now be able to access your W-2 within MyBGSU.

View Your 1098-T

If you are a current student of BGSU, you will be able to view your 1098-T form by logging in to your MyBGSU account.

Once logged in, select Student Center.
Select MyAccount.
Select View 1098-T from the left navigation.
Select the General tab.
Select the year desired year of 1098-T form you wish to view.
- If you experience issues opening the 1098-T, ensure that pop-ups are allowed by your web browser.

If you are no longer a current student of BGSU and need your 1098-T form, contact the Office of the Bursar at 419-372-2815 to request a mailed copy or temporary access to your MyBGSU account to access your 1098-T.
