IT Project Approval Process

What is the process for the approval of an IT Project?

Answer

 

The IT Project Approval Process is as follows: 

  1. Complete and submit  the IT Project Evaluation Request Form
  2. Ticket is generated and sent to the Technology Support Center (TSC) for review
  3. TSC Review
    • If a service already exists for what is being requested, the requestor will be directed to that page/service
    • If a service does not  currently exist, the ticket will be passed on to the Project Intake Analyst Group
  4. Project Intake Analyst Review
    • Review the request and gather additional information, as needed
    • Determine if the project is considered an IT Enhancement or IT Project 
      • IT Enhancement  - assigned to an available person and completed as resources become available
      • IT Project – moves on to the next step
  5. Software Integration Committee (SIC) Review 
    • The request will be reviewed by the SIC at their monthly meeting.
    • The SIC will establish the IT Project Priority 
    • If the project is not approved, the requestor is informed of this decision
    • If the project is approved, it will move on to the next step
  6. Executive Sponsors Committee (ESC) Review 
    • The request will be reviewed by the ESC at their monthly meeting. The ESC has the power to override any priority given in the previous step.
    • If the project is not approved, the requestor is informed of this decision
    • If the project is approved, the project will be assigned to a Project Manager to begin work as resources become available      

Systems Integration Committee (SIC) 

The SIC is made up of business area representatives from Academic Operations, Academic Affairs, Business Operations, the Controller's Office, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Marketing and Communications and Student Affairs.

Executive Sponsors Committee (ESC)

The ESC is an executive level committee comprised of the university's vice presidents and chief officers.

Project Intake Analysts (PIA)

The PIA group is made up of systems analysts within ITS.
