Sending Large Files Through Email

Question

How do I send large files through email?

Answer

Microsoft Outlook has a limit on the maximum file size for emails of 20 MB. In order to send larger files through email, you may use Microsoft OneDrive to upload and link the attachment to an email.

  1. Sign in to your BGSU webmail account from the link on the BGSU homepage or at mail.bgsu.edu.
  2. Select on the 3x3 grid of squares in the top left corner of the screen and select OneDrive.
  3. Select + Add new in the top left corner of the screen.
  4. Select Upload.
  5. Select File.
  6. In the file browser window that opens, find the large file you intend to send.
  7. Select the file and Select Open.
    • Once the file has finished uploading, you will see it in the list of Files.
  8. Select the check box next to the file in OneDrive.
  9. Select Share at the top of the page.
  10. In the dialog box that opens, you may enter the email address of your intended recipient along with a message for the email.
