What is the Zoom automatic recording feature?

Answer

The Zoom automatic recording feature is a setting that can be toggled on/off to record meetings automatically as they start. This feature can be turned on or off at either the host level or per meeting.

Turn On Automatic Recordings at Host Level

  1. Log in to the Zoom web application.
  2. Select Settings from the left navigation menu. 
  3. Select the Recordings tab.
  4. Toggle the Automatic recording slider to ON.
  5. Select if you would like the recordings to save to your local device or the cloud.

Turn On Automatic Recordings For a Single Meeting

  1. Log in to the Zoom web application.
  2. Select Schedule a Meeting.
  3. Select your meeting settings and complete the fields as necessary.
  4. Under Meeting Options check the box next to Automatically record meeting to turn this setting ON. 
  5. Select if you would like the recordings to save to your local device or the cloud.
  6. Select Save to schedule your meeting.

Please Note: If you have the Allow participants to join anytime setting is enabled in the Meeting Options, your recording will automatically begin when the first student joins the meeting. If you would like the recording to start when the instructor joins the meeting, please disable this setting.
