Create/Change BGSU Password Security Question
To create or change your BGSU password security question:
- Log in to MyBGSU.
- Select IT Service Desk from the top navigation menu.
- Select BGSU Password Management from the left navigation menu.
- Select your name from the top right corner of the self-service page.
- Select Settings.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Enter your BGSU password and select Verify.
- Authenticate via Duo Two Factor Authentication.
- Scroll down the page to the Forgotten Password Question section.
- Select Edit.
- Review the Tips for creating a good security question.
- Select your preferred security question from the Question drop-down menu.
- Enter the answer to the question in the Answer field.
- Select Save.
Security Question Creation Guidelines
Many sites and services require security questions when you register an account. This is to help confirm your identity in the event you forget your password.
To select strong security questions, please take the following guidelines into consideration:
Security Questions should have the following characteristics:
- Answer never changes
- Easy to remember, even 10 years from now
- At least thousands of possible answers
- Simple one or two word answer
Things to Avoid:
- Favorites, these change over time
- Information that can be readily found on the Internet
- What is the color of …, limited number of choices
- Your first and last name
- Bowling Green- as the school name
