Student Printing - First Time Setup

Question

How do I setup Student Printing on my personal device for the first time?

Answer

Expand the panels in this article for first time setup instructions based on your device type.

Please note: The Student Printing driver will not work when installed on a University-owned device. 

Users must be connected to the BGSU eduroam network in order to complete this setup. For information on connecting your device to eduroam, click here

While following these steps, if you are prompted o save credentials for Student Printing, do not allow it. Saving your credentials will cause problems the next time you change your password.

Installing the Mobility Print Driver

  1. Navigate to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.
  2. Select Printers and Scanners.
  3. Select the + icon under the Printers list.
  4. The Add dialog is displayed. Select the Printer Search icon to display the Default window. 
  5. Select bg-print-color from the list of available printers.
    • The Name should be bg-print-color.
    • The Location should be printserver3.
    • Confirm that Use is set to Secure AirPrint.
  6. If Secure AirPrint  is NOT displayed:
    • Close the Add dialog
    • Disconnect from the network
    • Reconnect to the network
    • Try again. If you still cannot see Secure AirPrint, contact Information Technology Services.
  7. Select Add.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to use Mobility Print, you may have your credentials saved to your KeyChain. Follow the steps below to remove that password.

  1. Using the Spotlight (top right), search for KeyChain Access.
  2. Open KeyChain Access.
  3. From the list of password, remove the password that shows bgsuprint.bgsu.edu.
  4. Try to print at this time, it should prompt you for your current MyBGSU username and password.

Installing the Mobility Print Driver

  1. Add funds to your BG1 card.
    • Students must have funds available in the BG Bucks account of their BG1 card in order to print. Visit the BG1Card office website to learn how to load funds to your account by reviewing the different Deposit Options and/or watching the BG1 Card office's video tutorials here.
    • See student printing costs.
  2. Follow the link below to install the driver on your device.

  3. Select BG-Print-Color [printserver 3] in the Printer Selection window and Select Next.

  4. Enter your BGSU username and passwordClick Next.

  5. Select Finish.

Installing the Mobility Print Driver

  1. Select the link below and select Add to Chrome to download the extension. 
  2. Exit the Chrome Web Store.

Installing the Mobility Print App

  1. Open the Google Play Store and search for Mobility Print.
  2. Install the Mobility Print app. The App Publisher should be PaperCut Software.

  3. After installation, Open the app. Tap the Android Settings button.

  4. Select Mobility Print Service to ensure that the Mobility Print service is one. If you get a dialog box asking if you would like to activate the service, select OK. Otherwise, switch the toggle from off to on.

  5. After a few seconds, if you are connected to the correct eduroam wireless network, you should have the BG-Print-Color Student printer displayed when attempting to print a document from your Android device.

  6. Exit settings.  You are now ready to print.
