Keeping your university device's Windows operating system (OS) updated is important to maintain system security and stability and to be in compliance with BGSU's security standards. The most current Windows operating system is Windows 10 version 20H2. To update the Windows OS on your university device, follow these steps:

**Please note: The update may take up to 8 hours (depending on internet speeds) so please leave your device open (laptop), powered ON and connected to a power source.**

  1. Remove all USB devices (except mouse and keyboard).
  2. In the Windows search bar in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen, type Software Center and select Enter
  3. Select Operating Systems from the left menu.
  4. Select the job named Required BGSU Operating System Upgrade: Win10 20H2
  5. Select Install to begin the update.

Check/Confirm Windows OS Version

  1. Select the Windows Start button.
  2. Select Settings (gear icon).
  3. Select System.
  4. Select About.
  5. The current Version is listed under the Windows specifications header.
