Why isn't my microphone working on my Windows 10 device?

If you are running a device with Windows 10 version 1909 or higher and are unable to use your microphone in any applications that were not included with Windows, you need to enable a security setting by following these instructions:
- Select Start and type "Microphone".
- Select Microphone Privacy Settings.
- Locate the section labeled Allow desktop apps to access your microphone.
- Toggle the slider to On.
- Restart the application impacted by this issue.
