Instructor Receiving Class Has Already Been Completed Message in Canvas Course

Question

When attempting to send out a Canvas message to the entire class, I receive a message stating "the email cannot be sent since the class has already been completed"; what can I do?

Answer

Instructors can fix this issue by opening the course site to the students via the instructions below. 

  1. Log in to Canvas
  2. Navigate to the Canvas Course experiencing the issue. 
  3. Select Settings. 
  4. Set a start date before the current date and end date in the future for the course under the Course Details tab.
  5. Select Update Course Details.
  6. You should now be able to send a message to your class.
