How do I secure my mobile devices prior to traveling?
Answer
Please take the proper precautions to secure your mobile devices (i.e. laptop, tablets, phone) before traveling. See below for some recommendations:
- Set up a password and set the screen to lock after 15 minutes or less of inactivity.
- Set the device to erase all data after 10 failed login attempts.
- Turn on encryption (if offered).
- Enable a Find My Device app to track the device in the event it is lost or stolen.
- Turn off wireless and Bluetooth when not in use.
- Install the Ivanti Secure Access Client app and request VPN access if you plan to use the device on untrusted wireless networks. Using untrusted wireless networks should be avoided if possible.
- Update your operating system to the latest version.
- Update apps to the latest version.
- Only install apps from trusted sources.
- Apple devices is App Store.
- Android devices is Google Play.
- Windows devices is the Windows Store.
- Do not jailbreak your device.
