How do I perform a DNS flush on my device?
Answer
If a website has changed IP addresses or is out of date, a DNS (Domain Name System) flush may be required. Expand the panels in this article for instructions on how to perform a DNS flush on Mac and/or PC devices.
Perform DNS Flush on Mac Device
- Navigate to Search (Magnifying Glass) at the top right and type in "Terminal".
- Once the Terminal opens, type: sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
- Enter your Mac Password if prompted.
- Close out Terminal once complete.
Perform DNS Flush on Windows Device
- Navigate to Start and click on Run.
- Type in "CMD" and then click Run/Ok.
- Once the Command Prompt is open, type "ipconfig /flushdns". You will see a message confirming the DNS resolver cache has been flushed.
- Close out Command Prompt once it is complete.
