Create Office Hours in Canvas Using Zoom


How do I create office hours in Canvas using Zoom?


  1. Open your course in Canvas.  
  2. Make sure that Zoom for Canvas has been enabled in your course. If you have not enabled Zoom for Canvas, follow these instructions
  3. From the course navigationselect Zoom
  4. Select Schedule a New Meeting
  5. In the Topic header, name your Zoom meeting “Office Hours.” 
  6. Under Time Zonecheck the Recurring meeting checkbox 
  7. In the Security settingsselect Waiting Room
  8. Change the recurrence to No Fixed Time
  9. This will generate a meeting link that can be used at any time and will expire after 365 days
  10. Under Meeting Options confirm Enable join before host is not selected. Students who join the meeting before you will see a notice to wait
  11. Select Save

Once your meeting has been created, students can access the meeting by selecting Zoom from the Canvas menu. In your message, make sure to also state when you will hold your office hours.
