Managing MS Team Settings/Permissions


How do I update settings and permissions for my Microsoft Team?


Team Owners can update and manage settings and permissions for their Teams.

  1. Select the Teams icon from the left navigation in Microsoft Teams.
  2. Select the Team for which you would like to manage permissions.
  3. On the Manage Team page you can manage settings for and review the following tabs:
    • Members
    • Pending Requests
    • Channels
    • Settings
    • Analytics
    • App


View all Team Owners and Team Members. Use this screen to add, remove, or add tags to a Member.

Pending Request

Review and approve/deny requests to join your team.


View all of your active and deleted Channels. Here, you can decide which Channels you would like to show for yourself or for Team Members, add a new Channel, or edit additional Channel settings by selecting the ellipses (three dots).


Manage and update permissions for Team Members, add a team picture, manage tags and permit things like emojis, memes, GIFs and stickers. It is important to note that, by default, all Member permissions are set to on. Please review Member permissions and turn them on/off based on preference.

For example, Allow members to create private channels is turned on. This means that any Team Member can create a private channel and determine who is a Member of that channel. Some Team Owners may prefer to turn this permission off. 


View analytics for your Team such as the number of users, messages, file storage used, etc. 


View and uninstall available apps.
