Concourse Syllabus Issue - "Error: Could not verify ID token: State not found"

Issue

When accessing Concourse Syllabus through Canvas, some users may receive the error message: “Error: Could not verify ID token: State not found.”

Cause

Concourse Syllabus requires third-party cookies to be enabled. This issue most commonly occurs when using Safari, which blocks third-party cookies by default.

Resolution/Workaround

  1. Clear browser cache/history
    • Use this LINK for instructions on how to clear your browser data.
  2. Enable third-party cookies or try a different browser.
 
Safari - How to Enable 3rd Party Cookies
  1. Select Safari followed by Settings (or Preferences on older macOS versions).
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking. 
  4. Close the settings window.

Google Chrome - How to Enable 3rd Party Cookies

  1. Select the three vertical dots (More) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Privacy and security on the left menu.
  4. Select Third-party cookies.
  5. Select Allow third-party cookies

Firefox - How to Enable 3rd Party Cookies

  1. Select  the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select  Settings.
  3. Select  Privacy & Security on the left menu.
  4. Under Enhanced Tracking Protection, Select  the Standard radio button.
    • If you use Custom, make sure the Cookies box is unchecked or configured not to block all cross-site cookies.
  5. Refresh.

Edge - How to Enable 3rd Party Cookies

  1. Select the three dots (...) menu in the top-right corner of Edge.
  2. Select Settings from the menu.Click Privacy, search, and services on the left side.
  3. Scroll down to the Cookies section.
  4. Turn off Block third-party cookies.
