Question
I received a message to my BGSU email account that I believe may be fraudulent, what should I do?
Answer
- Do not respond/click on any of the links within the message.
- Forward the suspicious message using shortcut in the menu bar "Report Message" > "Phishing" or as an attachment to abuse@bgsu.edu.
- Delete the message from your inbox.
The ITS Security team reviews every email sent to abuse@bgsu.edu. If the ITS security team determines the email is fraudulent and is being sent to a broad base of BGSU account holders a ITS Fraud Notice message will be sent out that will include a warning and more information about the suspicious message. Otherwise, the individual reporting the suspicious email may receive a direct message back from an ITS security analyst.
