Mac Laptop Not Displaying in Classrooms

Why wont my Mac laptop display when connected via HDMI in my classroom?

Answer

Some classroom projectors have a maximum resolution of 1280x720 that new Apple Laptops do not detect properly. To fix this issue:

  1. Select the Apple icon in the top right and select System Settings.
  2. On the list on the left, locate and select Displays.
  3. At the top, select the monitor-shaped icon labeled with the word Extron.
  4. Toggle the icon next to Show all resolutions.
  5. Select the resolution listed as 1280 x 720.
