Question
What additional information is available regarding the Classroom Computer Login Method fall 2024 pilot group?
Answer
During the fall semester of 2024, ITS will pilot a change to the software running on the dedicated computer inside 25 classrooms across campus. As part of the pilot, the instructor's computer in your classroom will be upgraded to Windows 11 and will require the instructor to log in using their BGSU username and password. This change will allow the use of additional tools and software available on the device while also making the device more secure. When an instructor is finished using the computer, they will also need to log out of the computer. As a reminder, a prompt has been added on a timer to log the computer out after it has been idle automatically. This process for logging in to the computer during each use is already in place in our computer labs and classrooms utilizing Mac computers, but if the process is new to you, we are happy to set up a training demonstration.
If you are teaching in one of these rooms, please report any active issues experienced when using your classroom to ITS using our standard contact information or via the form to report an issue on www.bgsu.edu/classrooms.

Basic Training
When you arrive in your classroom, if you plan on using the computer in the classroom, follow the prompts to sign into the computer using your Username and Password.
If you do not use the machine for a while during your class, a prompt will appear warning you that you are about to be signed out. To avoid this, use the mouse or the keyboard within a minute of the prompt appearing.
When you are finished using the computer in your classroom, use the Log Off Icon on the desktop of the computer to log out of the machine.
