Please Note: You will have 24 hours to retrieve/release your document from the printer before it is automatically deleted.

 

PERRY proTECH printers

Users can access and release prints from PERRY proTECH devices using one of the following methods:

  1. Login with your BGSU username and password by tapping the screen and selecting Username and password
  2. Select ID Number and enter your BGSU Office Printer PIN.

  3. Swipe your BGSU ID card.

 

Install Printer on Windows Office Computer 


The steps below are for university-owned, Windows computers in which you are the primary user. To install a printer and/or send a print job, you must be connected to Eduroam or the wired network while on campus, or connected to the BGSU VPN while off-campus.

If you receive a prompt for administrator login when attempting to install the printer, please contact ITS.

 

PERRY proTECH Printer Installation Instructions

Option One

  1. Obtain printer name from department contact.*
  2. Ensure logged onto the computer with your BGSU username, not a local account.
  3. Open Run by pressing Windows Key + R.
  4. Type \\bgsuprint.bgsu.edu\PRINTERNAME into the Run box. (Replace PRINTERNAME with the name received from department contact.)
  5. Select OK.
  6. The printer installation will begin.
  7. Installation is complete when the printer queue is displayed.  Close the printer queue.
  8. Test Printing - For each printer added, you may wish to attempt to print a job to verify setup is functional:
    1.  Printing must be completed with a BGSU user logged in, not a local account.  
    2. Do not test any print job that has sensitive data.

Option Two

  1. Obtain printer name from department contact.*
  2. Ensure logged onto the computer with your BGSU username, not a local account.
  3. In the Windows Search box type \\bgsuprint.bgsu.edu\ and press enter
  4. Scroll through the listing and double-click the correct printer name
  5. The printer installation will begin.
  6. Installation is complete when the printer queue is displayed.  Close the printer queue and printer list.
  7. Test Printing - For each printer added, you may wish to attempt to print a job to verify setup is functional:
    1. Printing must be completed with a BGSU user logged in, not a local account.  
    2. Do not test any print job that has sensitive data.

* If you are unable to obtain the printer name from your department contact, please contact ITS and have the associated PERRY proTECH ID number of the printer (located on the device's PERRY proTECH sticker) readily available.

To have an office printer driver installed on an Apple office device, please contact Information Technology Services

 

Print Remotely to a University Printer From a University Device 


You can use your University-owned device to print to a BGSU office printer from a remote location by following these steps:

  1. Connect your University device to the BGSU VPN.
  2. Open the document you would like to print.
  3. Open the Print window and select the printer to which you would like to print the document.
    • If you do not see the University printer you would like to use, you may add it using the steps in the above panels labeled "Install Printer on Windows Office Computer" and "Install Printer on Apple Office Computer". 
  4. Select Print to print the document.
  5. Your printed documents should now be available for pickup at the University printer you selected.

Please Note: You will have 24 hours to retrieve/release your document from the printer before it is automatically deleted. Instructions for releasing a print are available in the "Access a BGSU Office Printer/Copier / Release Prints*" panel.
