The steps below are for university-owned, Windows computers in which you are the primary user. To install a printer and/or send a print job, you must be connected to Eduroam or the wired network while on campus, or connected to the BGSU VPN while off-campus.
If you receive a prompt for administrator login when attempting to install the printer, please contact ITS.
PERRY proTECH Printer Installation Instructions
Option One
- Obtain printer name from department contact.*
- Ensure logged onto the computer with your BGSU username, not a local account.
- Open Run by pressing Windows Key + R.
- Type \\bgsuprint.bgsu.edu\PRINTERNAME into the Run box. (Replace PRINTERNAME with the name received from department contact.)
- Select OK.
- The printer installation will begin.
- Installation is complete when the printer queue is displayed. Close the printer queue.
- Test Printing - For each printer added, you may wish to attempt to print a job to verify setup is functional:
- Printing must be completed with a BGSU user logged in, not a local account.
- Do not test any print job that has sensitive data.
Option Two
- Obtain printer name from department contact.*
- Ensure logged onto the computer with your BGSU username, not a local account.
- In the Windows Search box type \\bgsuprint.bgsu.edu\ and press enter
- Scroll through the listing and double-click the correct printer name.
- The printer installation will begin.
- Installation is complete when the printer queue is displayed. Close the printer queue and printer list.
- Test Printing - For each printer added, you may wish to attempt to print a job to verify setup is functional:
- Printing must be completed with a BGSU user logged in, not a local account.
- Do not test any print job that has sensitive data.
* If you are unable to obtain the printer name from your department contact, please contact ITS and have the associated PERRY proTECH ID number of the printer (located on the device's PERRY proTECH sticker) readily available.
