• ITS will only install software that will be used for BGSU class instruction.
• Installation of pre-release, preview, or trial versions of software is not permitted.
• The number of software licenses owned and provided to complete the request needs to be sufficient to cover the number of computers in the requested computer lab or classroom.
• Software new to labs or classrooms is subject to legal, accessibility, and other reviews as outlined in our Software Purchase & Request Process article.
• After completing the form, if not available electronically, please deliver the following items to Information Technology Services (ITS) in 134 Hayes Hall.
  • A physical copy of the media needed to install the software.
  • Serial numbers, license codes, accounts, dongles, or guides needed to complete the installation.
  • A copy of the proof of purchase, end-user license agreement (EULA), and any Terms & Conditions and privacy policies associated with the software.
• Work will not begin until the legal review process has completed and all items necessary to complete the installation have been received.
• For best service, software requests should be submitted by the following dates if needed for the first day of classes:

• If you are currently unaware of the location of your class, please still submit your request and note in the Additional Details section that the location is “to be determined”. This will allow ITS to begin working on your request. Once the location is known you can reply to your ticket with that information. 
• Software requested for the start of a semester/session submitted after these dates will be handled in the order received. As there are typically a large number of requests at the start of each semester/session, there may be considerable delays in processing the request.
• ITS will attempt to complete software requests made outside of the start of the semester/session within 10 business days following any legal review, provided all items necessary to complete the installation have been received. 
  • Complex software installations requiring services such as a supporting server configuration may take longer than 10 business days.

Please Note: For University construction projects involving a classroom or computer lab that are not complete within 15 business days of the start of the subsequent term, ITS cannot guarantee that the installation of technology and/or provisioning of software will be available for the first day of classes.

The Summer/Fall 2024 software request deadline was communicated via to BGSU faculty and decentralized IT staff on the following dates:

• Email to all faculty with subject line: Important IT information for spring semester - January 4, 2024
• Campus Updates scheduled for these dates: 2/1/24, 2/15/24
• Email to all faculty with subject line: Reminder: Submit academic software requests for Summer/Fall 2024 by Apr. 29 - February 15, 2024
• Message posted to Canvas Dashboard 3/4/24-4/29/24
• Email to all faculty with subject line: Reminder: Submit academic software requests for Summer/Fall 2024 by Apr. 29 - March 19, 2024
