Question
How do I powerwash my Chromebook?
Resolution
Powerwashing your Chromebook is similar to a factory reset, which means any user data (including files stored locally) will be deleted during this process. If you have any files stored locally that need to be backed up please use the Chromebook backup guide. The powerwash process should take approximately five to fifteen minutes complete. Please follow the instructions below to powerwash your Chromebook
- Sign out of your Chromebook.
- Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R.
- In the box that appears, Select Powerwash > Continue.
- Follow the steps that appear and sign into the eduroam network.
- Sign into your Google account.
- Please note the account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the new owner account.
- Follow onscreen instructions to finish setting up your Chromebook.
*ITS does not recommend the use of Chromebooks because they are not compatible with many academic and enterprise applications.
