How do I connect my Windows laptop up to the classroom AV system using an HDMI cord?
Answer
Using the classroom's camera and microphone for Hybrid Classes
- Use the computer in the classroom to launch your Zoom meeting.
- Join the same meeting using your laptop and mute the laptop's speakers and microphone.
- Share your laptop screen in the meeting.

Using your laptop's camera and microphone for hybrid classes, or when teaching a standard class:
- Turn on the AV system.
- Plug your HDMI cable into the laptop's HDMI port.
- Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the podium or in the cabinet.
- On the touch panel, select your display choice and select HDMI.
- Your device is now connected.
*Please note: Most PC laptops have HDMI ports. HDMI cables are not provided in the classroom nor by ITS.
Troubleshooting:
- If laptop image does not appear on the projector/flat screen, verify the HDMI cable is securely attached to the ports.
- If image does not appear, restart the system. This will restart the video projectors as well as the touch panel.
- Confirm laptop resolution is set to the lowest available.
