Classroom Projection System (Projector) Troubleshooting

Question

I am having issues with the projection system in the classroom, what can I do?

Answer

Control Panel: No Display or Unresponsive

Projector: Does Not Project when HDMI Source is Selected

Projector: Blank Screen or No Signal

Multiple Projectors: Blank Screen or No Signal

Sound: No Audio

 

Helpful Tips:

  • Always test technology and media before attempting to use it during a live class 
  • Log off or restart the classroom PC when you have finished using the equipment — do not shut down 
  • Do not leave a projector in Display Mute mode when you leave the room 
  • Power-down the projection system when you have finished using the equipment

Control Panel: No Display or Unresponsive


  1. Tap the center of the touch screen to wake. 
  2. If the panel does not respond, or the touch panel has lost connection with the controller, please call Classroom Technology Support at 419-372-9400.

 

Projector: Does Not Project when HDMI Source is Selected 


  1. Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable. 
  2. Set computer resolution to 1920x1080. 
  3. Duplicate or mirror your display
  4. Try a different HDMI cable or adapter

 

Projector: Blank Screen or No Signal 


  1. Check the control panel: 
    1. Select correct input (PC, HDMI, Doc Cam). 
    2. Press the Display Mute button to toggle on/off
  2. Check the Classroom PC: 
    1. Wake the PC by moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard. 
    2. Verify the PC is on; PC is either located behind the monitor, in the wall AV cabinet, or in the Enook. 
  3. Check the document camera
    1. Press and hold the Power button — the light should turn blue when powered on. 
  4. Check the laptop or other device
    1. Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable
    2. Restart the device with the HDMI cable connected
    3. Adjust your device's display resolution to be 1920 x 1080 or lower. 

 

Multiple Projectors: Blank Screen or No Signal 


If you still have an issue with any projector in the room after checking items 2, 3, and 4 above, try the following:  

  1. Check the power state (on or off) of each projector — all projectors should power on with the system by default. 
    1. If any ceiling-mounted projectors have no signal or are powered off (status light on projector is red), enter the Help menu on the touch panel, then press Displays On
  2. If all else fails, turn the AV system off from the control panel, wait 30-60 seconds and turn the system back on. This should return all settings to their defaults. 

 

Sound: No Audio


  1. Check the control panel: 
    1. Press and hold the Volume Up button while audio is playing. 
  2. Check the Classroom PC
    1. Verify the sound is not muted or turned down on the computer itself. 
    2. Verify Extron HDMI is set as the audio output in the audio settings.
  3. Check the laptop or other device
    1. HDMI: In the control panel or system preferences on your device, choose Extron HDMI for your audio output.
