How do I connect my device to the BGSU-IoT network?
Answer
BGSU-IoT is used to connect devices on the network that are unable to log into eduroam, such as gaming systems, streaming devices, and smart TVs. Follow these steps to connect to the BGSU-IoT network:
- Navigate to www.bgsu.edu/registermydevice. (Link only works on phone or computer connected to BGSU's network)
- You will be redirected to an Aruba Clear Pass webpage for the device registration process.
- Log in with your BGSU username and password.
- Enter a Device Name.
- This is a brief description of what the device is.
- Enter the MAC address of the device.
- Enter your email address.
- ITS recommends using your BGSU email address.
- Choose the Device Type from the drop-down menu.
- For streaming devices like an AppleTV or Chrome Stick, choose Other.
- For gaming devices like an Xbox, choose Gaming.
- Select Create Device.
- You will be directed to your device receipt page with the Wi-Fi password. The Wi-Fi password for each device you register will be unique. You will also receive an email at the email address you provided during the registration process with this password.
- On your device, connect to BGSU-IoT.
- Password: Wi-Fi password provided during the registration process.
- Confirm private and/or random MAC addresses are disabled on your device.
- Select the Disable Random MAC Addresses panel below to view instructions.
Disable Random MAC Addresses
The steps will very depending on the device. Generally you can navigate to your device's Wi-Fi settings, select the BGSU-IoT network, then select the Private Wi-Fi Address or MAC settings. Select Use Device MAC or Off to turn this setting OFF

Randomized MAC address is configured for each network:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select Network & Internet.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Select the BGSU-IoT network.
- Select Advanced.
- Select Privacy.
- Select Disable Randomized MAC or Use Device MAC depending on Android model.
