iPhone: Eduroam Keeps Autofilling Previous Login Credentials

Question

When I try to connect to eduroam on my iPhone, it autofills my username from a previous professional or university account. Even after forgetting the network and performing a network reset this still happens. How do I connect with my BGSU credentials?

Answer

If you experience this issue it is because the device is being managed by a configuration profile. Configuration profiles define settings for using iPhones with corporate or school networks or accounts. Even though you have reset the network settings and forgetten the network, the configuration profile overrides the result and fills in its own credentials for logging in.

Resolve the Issue:

To resolve the issue, you must remove the previous configuration profile. When a configuration profile is active, it is not possible to connect to eduroam with credentials other than those specified by the configuration profile.

To remove the configuration profile:
  1. On your iPhone, open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Profiles & Device Management/VPN & Device Management.
  4. Locate the eduroam configuration profile, select it and delete it.
    • A device restart may be required.
  5. Connect to eduroam following these instructions.
