How do I grant/revoke or edit proxy access and what types of information can I share with my proxies in Access BGSU?

Delegate Access to Proxy


  1. Navigate to my.bgsu.edu

  2. Log in with your BGSU username and password.

  3. Select Student Center.

  4. Select the Profile tile.

  5. Select Share My Information from the left navigation menu.

  6. Select Delegate My Access To A New Contact.

  7. After reading the Terms & Conditionsselect Accept.

    • Agreeing to the electronic FERPA covers sharing student information with an authorized proxy in Access BGSU only and relates to just the 5 transactions supported by the tool. The student may be asked to sign other agreements to allow advisors or other University representatives to discuss the student's information outside of Access BGSU.

  8. Enter the contact information.

    • Confirm with the proxy the email address they would like to use for Access BGSU. If the email is typed in wrong, it cannot be changed later. The student will need to delete all access and start over again to grant access to the correct email address

  9. Select which transactions you would like to share with the proxy.

  10. Select Save. 

  11. message will appear notifying you that an email will be sent to the new proxy notifying them of the access granted to them. Select OK.

  12. A summary will display to show you who you have shared your information with.

    • To edit this information, select Edit.

    • To delete this account, select Delete.

 

Edit Proxy Access


  1. Navigate to my.bgsu.edu

  2. Log in with your BGSU username and password.

  3. Select Student Center.

  4. Select the Profile tile.

  5. Select Share My Information from the left navigation menu.

  6. Select Edit next to the proxy's name whose information you wish to edit.

  7. Check or uncheck the transaction name you would like to add or remove. 

  8. Select Save.

  9. notification will display asking if you are sure you want to change the access and informing you that the contact will receive an email notifying them of the changes. Select OK to accept or Cancel to reject the changes.

  10. Select OK again to save the changes. 

 

Revoke Proxy Access


Note that the Proxy will receive a notification that their access has been removed for each category of information that has been revoked.
 

  1. Navigate to my.bgsu.edu

  2. Log in with your BGSU username and password.

  3. Select Student Center.

  4. Select the Profile tile.

  5. Select Share My Information from the left navigation menu.

  6. Select Delete next to the proxy’s name whose information you would like to edit.

  7. Select Yes – Delete to delete the proxy’s access.

 

Resend Access BGSU Proxy Notification


  1. Navigate to my.bgsu.edu
  2. Log in with your BGSU username and password.
  3. Select Student Center.
  4. Select the Profile tile.
  5. Select Share My Information from the left navigation menu.
  6. Select Edit next to the proxy's name whose information you wish to edit.
  7. Select Resend Email Notification.
    • Notice that the Contact Email Address is greyed out. You cannot change the initial email address.
  8. Select OK to acknowledge that the email will be sent to the proxy.

 

Information Students Can Share with Proxies


Students can grant proxy access to the following information in Access BGSU:

  • Bursar information (view bill, make payment)

  • Financial aid information

  • To Do List

  • Holds

  • Grade information
