How Do I Update my Computer Password after Changing My BGSU Password while Off-Campus?

Question

How do I sync my computer/device login password with my new BGSU password after changing it off-campus?

Answer

Windows Device:

  1. After resetting your password, sign out of or restart your device.
  2. Log in to your device with your old password.
  3. Connect to Pulse Secure with your new password
  4. Lock your device by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del simultaneously, or by pressing the Windows key + L combination and then selecting the Lock option.
  5. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del again and enter your new password
  6. Your password should now be synced.

This will synchronize your password with all BGSU SSO applications, networks, and your university device upon the next login.

Mac Device:

For macOS 10.13 or later:

  1. After resetting your passwordlog out of or restart your device.
  2. Log in to your device with your old password
  3. Connect to Pulse Secure with your new password
  4. Lock the screen by navigating to the Apple Menu and selecting Lock Screen, or by pressing the Control + Command + Q key combination.
  5. Enter your new password.
  6. Your password should now be synced.

For macOS 10.12 or earlier:

  • If you have reset your password while off-campus, you will not be able to sync your new BGSU password with your Mac login password until you return to campus.
  • Use your old password to log in to your device but all programs such as Pulse Secure, Cisco Jabber, etc. will require the new password.
  • Once on campus and connected to the network, restart your device and log in using your new BGSU password to sync.
