How to Perform a DNS Flush on a Mac Device

Question

How do I clear DNS (Domain Name System) cache?

Cause

Change in IP addresses/domain or cache out of date.

Answer

If a website has changed IP addresses or is out of date, a DNS flush may be required.

  1. Navigate to Search (Magnifying Glass) at the top right and type in "Terminal".
  2. Once the Terminal opens, type: sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder.
    • Enter your Mac Password if prompted.
  3. Close out Terminal once complete.
