Below are tips you need to know before traveling internationally while using ITS equipment.
While Traveling
While you are gone traveling be sure to...
- Only use the ITS provided travel laptop.
- Do NOT copy or store limited access/restricted data on your device - visit this website for more information.
- Use a secure connection with private browsers - visit this website for more information.
- Take note of and report IT security incidents such as unusual or odd computer behaviors.
- Do NOT use public charging stations or USB storage devices you receive or find.
When You Return
When you return from your travels...
- Return the travel laptop to Hayes Hall 130 within 48 hours of your return to BGSU.
- Do NOT power on the travel laptop.
- Do NOT connect the travel laptop to the BGSU network.
- Change your BGSU password.
- Report IT security incidents or strange activity you observed while traveling to ITS.
**As of 2020, all BGSU faculty and staff are provisioned with a VPN account. Please ensure it is setup and working accordingly prior to your departure.**
