What is UDOIT and Why are Some of My Documents Listed as Not Accessible?
Answer
UDOIT helps instructors and course designers identify and remediate accessibility issues with Canvas LMS course content to better meet standards such as WCAG 2.0/2.1 and Section 508.
Key Functionality:
- Automated Accessibility Scans
- Scans course pages, assignments, files, media, and links
- Flags common issues (missing alt text, poor color contrast, heading structure, inaccessible tables, etc.)
- Actionable Remediation Guidance
- Provides plain language explanations of each issue
- Suggests concrete steps to fix problems, often within the LMS
- Assist with remediation of PDF documents
- Instructor Friendly Interface
- Embedded directly inside the LMS (commonly Canvas)
- Designed so non technical faculty can understand and act on results
- Results & Tracking
- Course level accessibility scores
- Trend reporting to track improvement over time
- Institution wide visibility for accessibility teams
- Training
- Center for Faculty Excellent has provided a Digital Accessibility Resources and workshops to help faculty utilize this new tool
- Issues
- PDF remediation does not work with specific formulas
- It will display formulas as a string of wingbat characters
