Question
How do I use my secure SharePoint site?
Answer
Secure SharePoint Sites are configured so that BGSU teams can securely share files containing restricted data and contain only a Document Library for document collaboration. All sharing capabilities are disabled and users must be a site member in order to access the Document Library. Secure SharePoint sites are configured by ITS and users must request access by submitting a Secure SharePoint Site Access Request form.

View Secure SharePoint Site User Access
Secure Sharepoint Sites are intentionally set differently than regular SharePoint Sites in order to replace the previously use PGP Netshare secure file storage location. Access is configured so that all users have Site Visitor permissions, which prohibits the ability to configure the Site. Users can view who currently has visitor access by following these steps:
- From the Secure SharePoint Site, select Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Site permissions.
- Expand the Site visitors list to view who has access.
Deleted Files and Retention Period
- Secure SharePoint Sites are part of the Microsoft Cloud.
- Each site has its own Recycle Bin, just like a desktop PC.
- Microsoft Cloud is configured to delete items in the Recycle Bin after 93 days.
- After items are removed from the recycle bin they are not recoverable.
**It is recommended that users do not empty their Recycle Bin order to maintain 93 days of backup, in case of accidental deletions.
