Restricting Canvas Quizzes by Location in New Quizzes

How can I restrict access to my Canvas quiz based on location in New Quizzes?

This guide will walk you through the process of restricting a Canvas quiz to only work in a specific computer lab on campus. Before you start, you will need to finish these steps: 

1. Determine in which lab on campus you wish to offer the quiz. 
   • We will only support restrictions to a lab listed on this list.
2. Contact Information Technology Services to determine what network address range that particular lab falls under.  
   • The range will look something like this 129.1.30.0 

With the correct range in place:

1. Navigate to your Canvas Course. 
2. From the course navigation on the left, select Quizzes. 
3. Select the name of the quiz you wish to restrict. 
4. Select Build. 
5. Select the Settings tab.
6. Select the slider next to Filter IP addresses so that is shows a green checkmark. 
7. In the box that appears below the checkbox, enter the network address range with /24 after the address. 
   • An example would be 129.1.30.0/24 
8. Save your quiz.
