How do I set up my BGSU voicemail for the first time?

The first step in setting up your BGSU voicemail is to enroll in Cisco Unity Connection (BGSU's voicemail system). Unity Connection is set up so that you hear the first-time enrollment conversation when you call the system for the first time.

To set up your BGSU voicemail for the first time, and to set your preferred PIN, follow these instructions:

From Your Extension On a BGSU Phone

1. Press the voicemail (envelope) button. 
2. Enter the default voicemail PIN provided to you by ITS (this should be 124578), followed by # (pound).
3. Follow the prompts to do the following:
   1. Record your name.
   2. Record your voicemail greeting.
   3. Change your default voicemail PIN to a new, unique PIN.
4. The Unity system will tell you when enrollment is complete and you can hang up.
   • If you hang up before you have enrolled completely, the first-time enrollment conversation plays again the next time you sign into Unity Connection.

From Any BGSU Phone

1. Dial 2-9622.
2. Press the asterisk key (*) when Cisco Unity Connection answers.
3. You will be asked to enter your Unity Connection ID. This is your BGSU extension number (2-XXXX). Enter it, then press # (pound) to continue. 
4. Enter the default voicemail PIN provided to you by ITS (this should be 124578), followed by # (pound).
5. Follow the prompts to do the following:
   1. Record your name.
   2. Record your voicemail greeting.
   3. Change your default voicemail PIN to a new, unique PIN.
6. The Unity system will tell you when enrollment is complete and you can hang up.
   • If you hang up before you have enrolled completely, the first-time enrollment conversation plays again the next time you sign into Unity Connection.

From a Non-BGSU Phone

1. Dial 419-372-9622.
2. Press the asterisk key (*) when Cisco Unity Connection answers.
3. You will be asked to enter your Unity Connection ID. This is your BGSU extension number (2-XXXX). Enter it, then press # (pound) to continue. 
4. Enter the default voicemail PIN provided to you by ITS (this should be 124578), followed by # (pound).
5. Follow the prompts to do the following:
   1. Record your name.
   2. Record your voicemail greeting.
   3. Change your default voicemail PIN to a new, unique PIN.
6. The Unity system will tell you when enrollment is complete and you can hang up.
   • If you hang up before you have enrolled completely, the first-time enrollment conversation plays again the next time you sign into Unity Connection.

From Cisco Jabber

1. Select the Voicemail icon from the Cisco Jabber menu.
2. Select the Call Voicemail button in the messages section.
3. Enter the default voicemail PIN provided to you by ITS (this should be 124578), followed by # (pound).
4. Follow the prompts to do the following:
   1. Record your name.
   2. Record your voicemail greeting.
   3. Change your default voicemail PIN to a new, unique PIN.
5. The Unity system will tell you when enrollment is complete and you can hang up.
   • If you hang up before you have enrolled completely, the first-time enrollment conversation plays again the next time you sign into Unity Connection.
