How do I connect to a Mac in a remote lab from a Mac device?

Answer

 

Mac to Mac First Time Connection

  1. Download and install the GlobalProtect (https://gp.bgsu.edu) client.  
    • Note: On a Mac, you will be prompted to approve the system kernel during installation; select the lock icon, and then select Allow
  2.  Once GlobalProtect launches, enter the portal address gp.bgsu.edu, select connect and authenticate via Duo Two Factor Authentication
  3. Navigate to the link your instructor provided for the lab you will be using. 
  4. Click the Connect link for the computer you would like to log into.
  5. When asked "Do you wan to allow this page to open 'Screen Sharing'?", click Allow.
  6. Enter your BGSU credentials and select Sign In
  7. Log in to the computer with your BGSU username and password
  8. You are now connected to the lab computer to use as normal. 
  9. When you are finished using the computer, it is important that you make sure you sign out so that others can log in after you. If you forget to sign yourself out, please reconnect and sign out. Then disconnect from GlobalProtect.
    • To log out of an Apple computer, select the Apple icon in the top left corner and select Log Out from the menu. 
  10. Close the Screen Sharing window, then disconnect from GlobalProtect

Mac to Mac Returning Connection

  1. Launch GlobalProtect, select connect, and authenticate via Duo Two Factor Authentication
  2. Navigate to the link your instructor provided for the lab you will be using. 
  3. Click the Connect link for the computer you would like to log into.
  4. When asked "Do you wan to allow this page to open 'Screen Sharing'?", click Allow.
  5. Enter tyour BGSU credentials and select Sign In
  6. Log in to the computer with your BGSU username and password.  
  7. You are now connected to the lab computer to use as normal. 
  8. When you are finished using the computer, it is important that you make sure you sign out so that others can log in after you. If you forget to sign yourself out, please reconnect and sign out. Then disconnect from GlobalProtect.

  9. Close the Screen Sharing window, then disconnect from GlobalProtect

Reminder: Students cannot save files created on remote lab computers to external storage devices and the computer's internal drive is routinely wiped and cannot be restored. Please save your files to OneDrive or another cloud storage solution to avoid loss of work.
