Uploading a Video to Canvas

What is the recommended method for uploading a video to Canvas?

Follow the instructions below to upload a video to a Canvas course.

1. Log in to Canvas.
2. Navigate to your Canvas Course.
3. Find the page within the module where you would like to link the video.
4. Select the edit button on that page. 
5. Place the cursor in the location that you would like to place the video. 
6. Select the record/upload media button (play icon) from the Rich Content Editor. 
7. Select the Upload Media tab. 
8. Select the Select Video File button.
9. Search for and select the video file from its location.
10. Select Open.   
11. Once the video has loaded, it displays within your Canvas page.
    • You can edit the text that appears below the video file. 
12. Select Save. 
13. Select and play the video on the page to ensure that it works correctly.

*This method of uploading a video to Canvas does not take away from your course storage.
