Recording a Meeting/Event in Webex


How do I record a meeting/event in Webex?


  1. Start your Webex meeting/event.
  2. Select the Record icon (red circle) from the icon menu along the bottom of the screen. 
  3. If using the Webex Desktop App, select your preferred option for how you would like to record the meeting.
    • Record in cloud will record the meeting in the Webex Cloud. When finished, the recording can be accessed at under the Recordings menu on the left-hand side.
    • Record on computer allows you to choose a file destination on your computer to save the recorded file.
    • Please note that the recording could take a while to generate based on the length of your recording and the Webex Cloud usage at that time.
  4. Use the Recorder window to Pause the recording.
  5. Select Stop followed by Stop Recording to complete the recording. 

*If your Webex meeting is being recorded within Canvas, the recordings will show up in the Webex section of your Canvas course under Event Recordings.

ITS will decommission the Canvas Webex integration at the end of the Fall 2021 Semester. In response to faculty input, the Canvas Zoom integration was implemented during the Fall 2020 Semester as a replacement for Webex. Faculty who have not yet made the transition to Zoom should prepare to do so in the coming months, which includes the export of videos currently stored in Webex. Visit for more information.
