Using Jabber As An Extension of Your University Phone While Off-Campus

How do I set up the Cisco Jabber University phone extension feature while off-campus?

Answer

Please follow the instructions below to configure the Jabber phone extension feature to work while off-campus. 

Off-Campus Windows Device 

  1. Select the settings (gear) icon in the top right corner of the Jabber window. 
  2. Select Help followed by Refresh Configuration
  3. Return to the settings (gear) icon
  4. Select Sign Out
  5. Select Settings followed by File
  6. Select Reset Jabber
  7. Reopen Jabber
  8. Select the desktop phone icon located in the bottom left corner of the Jabber window. 
  9. Select the Use my computer for calls option. 

Off-Campus Mac Device

  1. Select Help from the top of the Jabber application. 
  2. Select Refresh Configuration
  3. Select Jabber from the top left corner of the Jabber application. 
  4. Select Sign Out
  5. Select Reset Jabber
  6. Reopen Jabber
  7. Select the desktop phone icon located in the bottom left corner of the Jabber window. 
  8. Select the Use my computer for calls option.  
  9. Select the desktop phone icon located in the bottom left corner of the Jabber window. 
  10. Select the Use my computer for calls option. 

*Mac users may need to restart their device for the fix to work successfully.
