How do I set up the Cisco Jabber University phone extension feature (softphone) while off-campus?
Answer
Please follow the instructions below to configure the Jabber phone extension/softphone feature to work while off-campus.
Off-Campus Windows Device
- Select the settings (gear) icon in the top right corner of the Jabber window.
- Select Help followed by Refresh Configuration.
- Return to the settings (gear) icon.
- Select Sign Out.
- Select Settings followed by File.
- Select Reset Jabber.
- Reopen Jabber.
- Select the desktop phone icon located in the bottom left corner of the Jabber window.
- Select the Use my computer for calls option.
Off-Campus Mac Device
- Select Help from the top of the Jabber application.
- Select Refresh Configuration.
- Select Jabber from the top left corner of the Jabber application.
- Select Sign Out.
- Select Reset Jabber.
- Reopen Jabber.
- Select the desktop phone icon located in the bottom left corner of the Jabber window.
- Select the Use my computer for calls option.
- Select the desktop phone icon located in the bottom left corner of the Jabber window.
- Select the Use my computer for calls option.
*Mac users may need to restart their device for the fix to work successfully.
