How do I record my screen using QuickTime Player?

Answer

QuickTime Player comes pre-installed on Mac devices. It allows users to record, edit, play and share audio/video files. It can also be used to record your screen by following these instructions:

  1. Open QuickTime Player from the Applications folder.
  2. Once in QuickTime, select File followed by New Screen Recording.
  3. Select the downward-facing arrow next to the Record button (red circle).
    • Microphone - Select None to record the screen with no sound. Select Built-in Microphone to record the screen with sound
    • Options - Select Show Mouse Clicks in Recording if you want your clicks to appear as a circle during your screen recording.
  4. Select the Record button and choose from the following recording options:
    1. Click your screen to record your entire computer screen.
    2. Drag a selection of your screen that you want to record.
  5. To stop recording, select the Stop button in the menu bar (located to the left of the WiFi icon)
  6. To save the recording, select File followed by Save and name your recording
