Question

How do I connect my gaming or streaming device to Ethernet in the residence halls?

Answer

Gaming consoles and streaming devices (like a smart TV or AppleTV) can connect to the network by Ethernet if they have a network port.

  1. Connect your device to an Ethernet cable in your room.
  2. Navigate to http://netreg.bgsu.edu on a phone or computer connected to BGSU's network and sign in with your BGSU credentials.
  3. Find the MAC address on your device and enter it in the MAC Address field.
    • The MAC address is a 12-digit number using colons or hyphens separating every two digits.
  4. Enter a description (ex. Apple TV).
  5. Select the device type from the drop-down menu.
  6. Select the Register button to register your device.
  7. Reboot your device to complete the registration.
    • Registration can take up to 10 minutes.
